Our 2021 Show has passed, but read on to see what we were up to and plan your entry for next year!

The Flower and Pot plant Classes

£1 fee per entry

Winning criteria for classes of single or mixed varieties of the same flower: prettiest, disease free, healthiest looking at the discretion of the judges. Please include leaves on each stem.

Winning criteria for classes of arrangements: prettiest, disease free, healthiest looking + artistic flair at the discretion of the judges.

 

  • Class 1: Flowering pot plant in a pot

  • Class 2: 5 stems of a single variety cut rose in a vase

  • Class 3: 5 stems of a single variety cut flower in a vase

  • Class 4: 5 dahlias of single or mixed varieties in a vase

  • Class 5: 5 chrysanthemums of single or mixed varieties

  • Class 6: Small arrangement of mixed roses in a vase (~5 stems)

  • Class 7: Large arrangement of mixed roses in a vase (~10 stems)

  • Class 8: Small arrangement of mixed cut flowers in a vase (~5 stems)

  • Class 9: Large arrangement of mixed cut flowers in a vase (~10 stems)

  • Class 10: A Single cactus or group of cacti in a pot

  • Class 11: A single hanging basket. Please remember to bring the hanging chain).

The Vegetable and Fruit Classes

£1 fee per entry

Winning criteria for all these classes: disease free, healthiest looking at the discretion of the judges (additional criteria are listed for some classes).

 

  • Class 12: A collection of 5 different vegetables presented in a basket or trug – 2 examples of each vegetable
  • Class 13: A collection of 3 different salad vegetables presented in a basket or trug – 2 examples of each vegetable
  • Class 14: 5 strings or single berries of the same soft fruit (e.g. 5 strawberries or 5 strings of red currants) arranged on a plate.

The Herb Classes

 £1 fee per entry

Winning criteria for all these classes: disease free, healthiest looking at the discretion of the judges. All herbs need to be presented in soil and an appropriately sized container. (The judges have been specially trained to spot any bought from Waitrose the day before so no cheating – you’ve been warned…)

  • Class 15: A pot of any single variety of herb (exhibitor choice)

  • Class 16: A pot of 3 varieties of herb (exhibitor choice)

 

The Chutney, Pickle, Jam, Marmalade and Cake Classes

£1 fee per entry

Winning criteria – colour, clarity, consistency, taste.

 

  • Class 17: Single jar of chutney or pickle (exhibitor choice of recipe)
  • Class 18: A jar of orange, lemon or lime marmalade
  • Class 19: A jar of jam (any fruit)
  • Winning criteria for cakes – flavour, consistency and finish at the discretion of the judges
  • Class 20: A Victoria sponge cake baked and decorated, presented on a dinner plate.
  • Class 21: A carrot cake baked and decorated, presented on a dinner plate
  • Class 22: A plate of 6 fairy cakes
  • Class 23: 6 slices of chocolate brownie
  • Class 24: 6 slices of flapjack

The Miniature Garden Class

£1 fee per entry

Winning criteria – imagination behind the theme and display at the discretion of the judges.

 

  • Class 25: Garden in a seed tray for children under 9 years old
  • Class 26: Coloured-in circus for children ages 6 years and under

Please bring your entries to the Flower and Produce Show marquee

Entries will be accepted from 8am to 10:30am on the day of the show

Judging will take place at 12 noon

1st in each class will be awarded: A winning rosette and a £10 Groves gift voucher

2nd in each class will be awarded: A winning rosette and a £5 groves gift voucher

3rd in each class will be awarded: A winning rosette
